Pune Metropolitan Development Authority (PMRDA)

Pune Metropolitan Area is the region that consists of two Municipal Corporations and three cantonments of PUNE Metro City. The population of the region as per 2011 census was 7,541,946 in May 2014

Jurisdiction

The Pune Metropolitan Development Authority (PMRDA) is the governing body of Pune Metropolitan Area. The jurisdiction of PMRDA covers Maval, Pune, parts of Haveli, Bhor, Daund, Shirur, Mulshi, Khed talukas of Pune district

PMRDA to develop infrastructure :

"The establishment of PMRDA would lead to development of infrastructure in the Pune metropolitan areas from Daund to Lonavla.

It would help in development of satellite areas with rapid public transport, which would ultimately make affordable housing possible as there would not be anymore excessive emphasis on city areas," Divisional commissioner Dilip Band, said.

He said that the PMRDA would work with involvement of public in development as instead of land acquisition, there would be demarcation of land for certain purposes and the private owners would be encouraged to develop those facilities
